Buyers and sellers will meet on the 26th and 27th October in Pavia’s Palazzo Esposizioni

Palazzo Esposizioni of the Chamber of Commerce of Pavia will host the seventh edition of the “International Scholarship of Cultural Tourism” and the third edition of the “Mirabilia Food&Drink Scholarship” from the 26th to the 27th October. In this location the B2B meetings between 250 professionals and 90 international buyers of the food&drink and tourism field will take place. The event is organized by the National Association Mirabilia Network, an association that links 17 UNESCO sites or UNESCO nominees joined by the local Chambers of Commerce and Unioncamere.
Bari, Benevento, Campobasso, Caserta, Catania, Crotone, Genoa, Gorizia, Imperia, Isernia, La Spezia, Matera, Messina, Pavia, Perugia, Potenza, Ragusa, Savona, Sassari, Siracusa, Trieste, Udine and Verona with their UNESCO sites are the Italian locations that composed a Network present in the whole national territory, from north to south, Islands included.
The International Scholarship of Cultural Tourism is a B2B event reserved to the businessmen of the tourist field (tour operators, travel agencies, hotel managers, incoming agencies, etc.) operating in the territories with a site that can claim a candidacy or a qualification as UNESCO World Heritage, and to 90 buyers (incoming professionals, decision managers, luxury travel buyers, etc.) coming from EU Countries, USA, Japan and China.
The project started in 2012 with the realization of the International Scholarship in Lerici, followed by Matera in 2013, Perugia in 2014, Lipari in 2015, Udine in 2016 and Verona in 2017. It intends to promote an integrated tourist offer of the “lesser known” UNESCO sites that enlightens and strengthens the relationship between territories that are linked by tourism, culture, art and UNESCO’s recognition. The aim is to increase the promotional activity spreading knowledge about these locations.
The third edition of Mirabilia Food&Drink will take place together with the Scholarship. It’s a B2B event in food&drink field reserved to 100 businessmen coming from all the MIRABLIA locations that can claim a candidacy or a qualification as UNESCO World Heritage, and to about 40 buyers selected by ICE-Agenzia (partner of Mirabilia) coming from the Eurpean area, United States, Canada and Japan.
The grand opening is on Friday 26th October. You’ll be welcomed at 10.00 by Franco Bosi, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Pavia; Angelo Tortorelli, President of the Mirabilia Network Association; Eric Giraudier, President of the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie (CCI) du Gard and Massimo Depaoli, Mayor of the Pavia district.
At 11.00, the round table “Tourism, Culture and Agricultural Value in the UNESCO’s sites and their areas” will take place, with the speeches of Lucia Borgonzoni, undersecretary for the Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism; Philippe Daverio, art critic, professor and essayist; Ivana Jelinic, President of Federazione Italiana Associazioni Imprese Viaggi e Turismo; Davide Rampello, university professor, director and art director and Giuseppe Tripoli, regional secretary of Unioncamere. The moderator is the anchor-man Patrizio Roversi.
At 12.15 there will be the speech of Attilio Fontana, President of Regione Lombardia, and the works will be concluded by Gian Marco Centinaio, Minister for the Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and Tourism.
The event will end at 12.30 with the award ceremony of the Mirabilia ARTinART Contest, a recognition that enhances the artistic craftsmanship of the MIRABILIA Network’s UNESCO sites. The theme of this year’s contest was “Mirabilia – A travel across the cities of art”. The works participating in the contest, selected at provincial level by a local commission, are exposed in Pavia during the International Scholarship of Cultural Tourism.
