    Cividale del Friuli is just a few minutes from Udine. The city was founded in Roman times by Julius Caesar with the name of Forum Iulii and became the capital of the Lombard duchy of Friuli, of the Friulian March and the temporal capital of the Patriarchate of Aquileia.
